The key components are:
- The Subject Leader Standard
- Using quantitative student level data to evaluate and plan for improvement
- Using a range of sources for subject self evaluation, how to run:
(i) moderation exercises
(ii) student work scrutinies
(iii) marking and assessment surveys
(iv) students' consultations about teaching and learning needs - How to observe the classroom, feedback and take the right action
- Self evaluation as a team building tool
- Contributing to whole-school self evaluation.

In addition many schools use our expert practitioners to spread good practice
- These expert practitioners are seconded heads of department or those with
recent experience of subject leadership. They work with the departments to
implement the recommendations of the SLT or external review/inspection.
These colleagues act as mentors for subject leaders and coaches for other
subject teachers.
