Senior inspectors / consultants


These posts are offered as either part-time employment or on a consultancy basis

Subject inspectors/consultants are subject specialists drawn from inspectors, advisers,
assessors and examiners. In addition, many of our subject English, maths and science
expert consultants are retired heads and deputies who take great pleasure from working at
subject level again. Colleagues are drawn from both the maintained and independent sectors.

We seek subject specialist candidates who:

  • Have a recent track record of working effectively with schools to improve progress and
    learner outcomes
  • Are up to date with developments in the National Strategy, testing, and public
    examinations
  • Are currently OfSTED inspectors, or have a thorough understanding of the OfSTED
    inspection framework and supporting data tools
    Are IT literate and prepared to work to tight deadlines.


Subject expert practitioners


These posts are offered on a consultancy basis including:

  • 5-10 days per year term holiday time contracts are offered for colleagues wishing to teach booster classes or lead intensive study days for GCSE and A level (all regions)
  • 10-30 days per year, term-time secondment
  • 30-100 days a year for colleagues during career breaks or retirement.

Subject expert practitioners are typically practising teachers (whom we arrange to be
seconded to us for part of the week*) or those with very recent school experience. Typically
these colleagues have experience as ASTs or heads of subject/faculty.

We seek candidates who:

  • Are good or outstanding teachers
  • Lead (or have led in the recent past) subject departments in which learners make good and outstanding progress
  • Are equipped to coach teachers and subject leaders and prepared to train with EL to
    enhance these skills
  • Are keen to teach student booster classes, or intensive study sessions for GCSE or A
    level.
